I wanted this piece to look like a vintage highway map from the 1930s or 40s.
These were the early glory days of traveling by car across America. Back then
a folded road map was as important as gasoline in the tank. I illustrated a
service station attendant in a style reminiscent of the time period.
Created using FreeHand and pencil. Delivered as an Illustrator eps file.
Originally a self-promo piece, this map has inspired similar maps for Disney
and Polaris, Inc.
